Distractions

Here's a lovely photo of another one of my orchids - I've managed to get this one to bloom a couple of times since I received it, so I can't be too horrible of a plant mother. Unfortunately, I've been so busy that this photo is a bit outdated - this baby has shed almost all of it's flowers by now and the ones remaining are, shall we say, not so lustrous anymore.
Work is keeping my busy and out of trouble. Sadly, it is also keeping me away from the knitting. Usually I can sneak some knitting time in while working on certain jobs. But not this summer, I have to earn my money honestly this time. I have finished more of the red lace and am really excited to see it blocked now, but I took a little detour and did some of the baby knitting, so I have to get back on track.

The red devil outfit is turning out well. After some initial confusion over how to shape the pants, I worked it out and am amazed at what a genius Barbara Walker is. I can't stop blabbing about how great her book "Knitting from the Top" is to my knitting buddy at work. I need to remember she works diffferently than I do and leave her alone. BUT - it is a GREAT book! I don't mind doing seams all that much (I know - weird) but I HATE tucking in ends. So, knitting in one complete piece eliminates some of that. Plus, I like the look and the way you can adjust things to fit gradually - no more knitting an entire sweater only to find it doesn't fit you. Well, usually. (Poor Heather!) I still LOVE the book though.
